OVERVIEW: Villa Borghese houses artworks by many great artists from the past. A journey through the centuries from the 1st to the 19th century. The unscrupulous Cardinal Scipione Borghese commissioned the Villa in the first half of the 16th century, in order to host his collection. Let’s discover the anecdotes that tell how the Cardinal achieved some of the artworks in the museum. Let’s get impressed by the brushstrokes of the genius of the past and the meanings of their canvas and statues. The Villa was built to be from the very beginning a place where everyone who loved the arts could quench its thirst of beauty. Anything in the museum is placed there accidentally; from the layout to furnishings, everything is harmonized to the rest.
